In April 2024, the average export price for newspapers, journals and periodicals appearing less frequently than four times a week amounted to $3,509 per ton, declining by -3.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2023 an increase of 11% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $3,988 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to April 2024, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($6,048 per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($595 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2023 to April 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for newspapers, journals and periodicals appearing less frequently than four times a week amounted to $8,259 per ton, surging by 6.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 27%. The import price peaked at $11,697 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($63,665 per ton), while the price for Romania ($3,095 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+14.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 18%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
