In 2022, the average import price for nickel; bars, rods and profiles, not alloyeds amounted to $28,250 per ton, declining by -3.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 167% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $29,176 per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($190,000 per ton), while the price for India ($9,154 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+27.9%).

For the third consecutive year, Bangladesh recorded decline in supplies from abroad of nickel; bars, rods and profiles, not alloyeds, which decreased by -5.9% to 16 kg in 2022. Overall, imports showed a sharp decline.
In value terms, imports of nickel; bars, rods and profiles, not alloyeds declined to $452 in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The smallest decline of -8.7% was in 2020.
