The average import price for nickel; bars, rods and profiles, not alloyeds stood at $5,750 per ton in 2022, increasing by 12% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 47% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $5,884 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($6,500 per ton), while the price for China stood at $2,000 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+3.3%).

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of nickel; bars, rods and profiles, not alloyeds, when their volume decreased by -80.3% to 12 kg. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 281% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 61 kg, and then fell sharply in the following year.

In value terms, imports of nickel; bars, rods and profiles, not alloyeds reduced markedly to $69 in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 300% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $312, and then fell notably in the following year.
