Price for Nickel; Bars, Rods, Profiles and Wire in Brazil (FOB) - 2024
The average export price for nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires stood at $38,001 per ton in September 2023, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 14% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $41,460 per ton. From August 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($180K per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($33,897 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2023 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+26.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires stood at $43,341 per ton in September 2023, shrinking by -16.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 an increase of 30% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $59,536 per ton. From June 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($62,671 per ton), while the price for India ($31,707 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2023 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+9.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Nickel; Bars, Rods, Profiles and Wire in Brazil
In 2022, approx. 1.1K tons of nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires were exported from Brazil; reducing by -28.3% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, exports saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 29% against the previous year.
In value terms, exports of nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires fell to $37M in 2022. In general, exports showed a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 44% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $41M, and then reduced in the following year.

Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.1K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.
