In 2022, the average import price for nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires amounted to $34,947 per ton, jumping by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price posted a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 72% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $59,939 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($71,390 per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($19,845 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+18.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Overall, the export price, however, saw a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 275%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $62,952 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($54,222 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($19,579 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+13.6%).

In 2022, purchases abroad of nickel; bars, rods, profiles and wires was finally on the rise to reach 42 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment.
