Price for Nickel; Unwrought, Not Alloyed in Serbia (CIF) - 2024

In April 2024, the average nickel; unwrought, not alloyed import price amounted to $17,810 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 when the average import price increased by 23% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $23,310 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to April 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In April 2024, the highest price was recorded for prices from Russia ($19,308 per ton) and Norway ($17,962 per ton), while the price for Australia ($16,016 per ton) and France ($16,247 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From April 2023 to April 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average nickel; unwrought, not alloyed export price stood at $21,875 per ton in 2022, waning by -19.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 51%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $27,266 per ton, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($25,104 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($15,811 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to North Macedonia (+6.7%).

In 2022, purchases abroad of nickel; unwrought, not alloyeds was finally on the rise to reach 606 tons after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decrease.
