Price for Nickel; Unwrought, Not Alloyed in the Czech Republic (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average nickel; unwrought, not alloyed import price amounted to $22,987 per ton, dropping by -3.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 16% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $29,221 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Poland ($27,888 per ton) and Italy ($26,439 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($22,059 per ton) and Germany ($24,856 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Estonia (0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average nickel; unwrought, not alloyed export price stood at $23,212 per ton in July 2023, falling by -3.2% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 26% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $30,818 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($23,460 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($22,666 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Nickel; Unwrought, Not Alloyed in the Czech Republic

In 2022, nickel; unwrought, not alloyed imports into the Czech Republic dropped significantly to 1.6K tons, which is down by -24.7% compared with the year before. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 2.2K tons, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

In value terms, nickel; unwrought, not alloyed imports rose notably to $43M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +79.5% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 69%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Over the period under review, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -7.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 77%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 76 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, nickel; unwrought, not alloyed exports surged to $1.9M in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
