The average nickel; unwrought, not alloyed import price stood at $15,116 per ton in 2022, surging by 18% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $20,262 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($19,433 per ton), while the price for Finland ($11,407 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Norway (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Imports of Nickel; Unwrought, Not Alloyed in Tunisia

In 2022, the amount of nickel; unwrought, not alloyeds imported into Tunisia shrank rapidly to 40 tons, dropping by -27.2% compared with the previous year. In general, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 454% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 54 tons, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

In value terms, nickel; unwrought, not alloyed imports contracted to $599K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 347%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $696K, and then fell in the following year.
