Price for Nickel; Unwrought, Not Alloyed in Ukraine (CIF) - 2023
The average nickel; unwrought, not alloyed import price stood at $23,758 per ton in August 2023, with an increase of 4.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 15% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $30,090 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the UK ($24,659 per ton) and Norway ($23,997 per ton), while the price for Canada ($23,171 per ton) and South Africa ($23,347 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average nickel; unwrought, not alloyed export price amounted to $21,294 per ton, increasing by 2.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed mild growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 41%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Russia.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Moldova amounted to +6.7% per year.

In 2022, nickel; unwrought, not alloyed imports into Ukraine declined rapidly to 666 tons, reducing by -72.3% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports faced a dramatic slump. The smallest decline of -1.4% was in 2020.
In value terms, nickel; unwrought, not alloyed imports plummeted to $17M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a sharp downturn.
