In 2022, the average nickel; wire, not alloyed import price amounted to $42,811 per ton, declining by -20.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 29%. The import price peaked at $53,944 per ton in 2021, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($271,425 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($28,472 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+20.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average nickel; wire, not alloyed export price amounted to $26,150 per ton, with an increase of 2.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 97% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $27,623 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Japan.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Japan amounted to +7.1% per year.
Imports of Nickel; Wire, Not Alloyed in Vietnam
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of nickel; wire, not alloyeds decreased by -13.2% to 8.9 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded significant growth.
