The average export price for niobium, tantalum, vanadium or zirconium ores and concentrateses stood at $1,910 per ton in December 2023, approximately equating the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $2,293 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to December 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In December 2023, the countries with the highest prices were China ($1,923 per ton) and India ($1,886 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,879 per ton) and Malaysia ($1,881 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for niobium, tantalum, vanadium or zirconium ores and concentrateses stood at $2,225 per ton in 2022, jumping by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,791 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($3,052 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($1,860 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+17.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
