Overall, the import price, however, recorded a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 15% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $5,497 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($7,971 per ton), while the price for the United States amounted to $4,572 per ton.
From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+1.0%).

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Macao SAR ($14,554 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($4,257 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Macao SAR (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
