The average import price for nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds stood at $5,349 per ton in March 2022, stabilizing at the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2021 an increase of 21% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $5,699 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to March 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($5,691 per ton), while the price for Australia ($4,698 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $7,276 per ton in December 2021; however, from January 2022 to March 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($6,266 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia stood at $3,975 per ton.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, exports enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 181% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, exports of nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds rose significantly to $3.6M in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 142% against the previous year.
