In July 2023, the average import price for nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds amounted to $4,902 per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 1.7% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,157 per ton. From April 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($9,866 per ton), while the price for the United States totaled $4,822 per ton.

From February 2023 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (-0.8%).

The average export price for nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds stood at $11,451 per ton in 2022, growing by 37% against the previous year. Overall, the export price enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 116% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $17,805 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($28,033 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($10,792 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+24.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds decreased by -1% to 42K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 9.8% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 42K tons, leveling off in the following year.

In value terms, imports of nuts, edible; almonds, fresh or dried, shelleds expanded remarkably to $240M in 2022. Overall, imports showed a slight contraction.
