In October 2023, the average import price for nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds amounted to $6,184 per ton, rising by 3.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 10% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $6,832 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to October 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($8,276 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($6,025 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 28% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $8,518 per ton. From May 2023 to October 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Estonia ($8,769 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($4,302 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds decreased by -10.9% to 2.3K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 24%.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 13%.
