The average import price for nuts, edible; pistachios, fresh or dried, shelleds stood at $18,670 per ton in January 2024, rising by 23% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2023 an increase of 135% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in January 2024.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was China ($19,825 per ton), while the price for Iran ($8,144 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for nuts, edible; pistachios, fresh or dried, shelleds stood at $14,730 per ton in 2022, declining by -24.5% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for nuts, edible; pistachios, fresh or dried, shelleds increased by +30.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 56%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $19,510 per ton, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($20,192 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($6,190 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+14.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
