Price for Nuts (Prepared or Preserved) in Japan (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average nuts (prepared or preserved) import price amounted to $5,369 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 12% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $5,777 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($10,506 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($2,243 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average nuts (prepared or preserved) export price stood at $6,398 per ton in July 2023, surging by 11% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 21% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,146 per ton. From January 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was France ($11,269 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($3,520 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Nuts (Prepared or Preserved) in Japan
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of nuts (prepared or preserved) decreased by -5.4% to 41K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period.
