In November 2023, the average import price for sunflower seed amounted to $656 per ton, with an increase of 14% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 42% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $917 per ton. From January 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($669 per ton), while the price for China stood at $652 per ton.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,677 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,864 per ton), while the average price for exports to Australia ($706 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
