In December 2023, the average export price for oils and products of the distillation of high temperature coal tar; benzoles amounted to $489 per ton, shrinking by -12.7% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2023 an increase of 28% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $560 per ton in November 2023, and then declined in the following month.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($498 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic totaled $484 per ton.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+3.6%).

In 2022, the average import price for oils and products of the distillation of high temperature coal tar; benzoles amounted to $536 per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $747 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Russia.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Russia amounted to -2.0% per year.
