The average import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds stood at $629 per ton in March 2022, with an increase of 3.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2021 when the average import price increased by 60% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $909 per ton in March 2021; however, from April 2021 to March 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($2,800 per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan ($147 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+22.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds stood at $607 per ton in 2022, jumping by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a tangible increase. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($1,768 per ton), while the average price for exports to Moldova ($235 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+53.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
