The average export price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds stood at $457 per ton in 2021, waning by -3.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, posted resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 54% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $565 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Jordan ($110,284 per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($300 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jordan (+102.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds amounted to $423 per ton, picking up by 5.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 16% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $519 per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,128 per ton), while the price for Yemen ($276 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, exports of onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds from Saudi Arabia reduced remarkably to 511 tons, falling by -49.3% against the year before. Overall, exports showed a sharp contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 20%.

In value terms, exports of onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds dropped dramatically to $390K in 2022. In general, exports recorded a dramatic slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 16%.
