The average import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds stood at $1,107 per ton in September 2022, declining by -3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 6% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,330 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($3,839 per ton), while the price for India ($501 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Myanmar (+15.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($1,027 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia stood at $752 per ton.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+1.0%).
