In November 2023, the average import price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds amounted to $1,389 per ton, with an increase of 9.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 56% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,273 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to November 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($1,521 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands amounted to $929 per ton.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds stood at $570 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 7.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price posted a temperate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,012 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($570 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore amounted to $570 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
