The average import price for organo-sulphur compounds; thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamateses stood at $7,093 per ton in February 2023, rising by 5.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a perceptible decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 an increase of 68% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $11,955 per ton in February 2022; however, from March 2022 to February 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In February 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($9,962 per ton), while the price for the United States totaled $5,945 per ton.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-1.7%).
Imports of Organo-Sulphur Compounds; Thiocarbamates and Dithiocarbamates in Pakistan
In 2022, purchases abroad of organo-sulphur compounds; thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamateses decreased by -5.7% to 2.1K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, showed pronounced growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 113%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 4K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, organo-sulphur compounds; thiocarbamates and dithiocarbamates imports soared to $20M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 109%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
