In February 2024, the average import price for paper, cigarette; in rolls of a width not exceeding 5cms amounted to $2,920 per ton, reducing by -19.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2023 when the average import price increased by 39% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,991 per ton. From January 2024 to February 2024, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Switzerland.
From February 2023 to February 2024, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Italy amounted to +8.3% per month.

The average export price for paper, cigarette; in rolls of a width not exceeding 5cms stood at $4,909 per ton in 2022, reducing by -8.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate mild growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 118%. The export price peaked at $9,425 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($7,675 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lithuania ($3,241 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (+10.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, exports posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 90% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, exports of paper, cigarette; in rolls of a width not exceeding 5cms declined to $1.1M in 2022. In general, exports showed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 127% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.2M, and then reduced in the following year.
