In 2022, the average export price for paper, cigarette; in rolls of a width not exceeding 5cms amounted to $2,811 per ton, rising by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 36%. The export price peaked at $6,041 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Malaysia ($2,815 per ton) and Vietnam ($2,811 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($2,811 per ton) and South Korea ($2,811 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In general, import price indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for paper, cigarette; in rolls of a width not exceeding 5cms increased by +75.2% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Overall, total exports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +22.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +83.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 52%.
In value terms, exports of paper, cigarette; in rolls of a width not exceeding 5cms expanded modestly to $27M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 5.5%. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
