The average import price for peat; (including peat litter), whether or not agglomerateds stood at $256 per ton in 2022, reducing by -2.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 35%. The import price peaked at $283 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($340 per ton), while the price for Estonia ($216 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 108% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 8.5K tons, and then fell markedly in the following year.

In value terms, exports of peat; (including peat litter), whether or not agglomerateds expanded remarkably to $885K in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a significant expansion.
