The average import price for peat; (including peat litter), whether or not agglomerateds stood at $259 per ton in December 2023, with an increase of 4.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 29% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $378 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($641 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($239 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+12.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
