In 2022, the average import price for pectic substances; pectinates and pectateses amounted to $11,790 per ton, with an increase of 5.2% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $13,837 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from the Czech Republic ($13,369 per ton) and Brazil ($13,054 per ton), while the price for China ($9,109 per ton) and Germany ($10,126 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for pectic substances; pectinates and pectateses stood at $19,627 per ton in 2022, increasing by 7.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, pectic substances; pectinates and pectates export price increased by +97.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $19,855 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($20,060 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany amounted to $7,579 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+37.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Pectic Substances; Pectinates and Pectates in Sri Lanka
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of pectic substances; pectinates and pectateses, when their volume decreased by -24.1% to 67 tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 198%.
In value terms, pectic substances; pectinates and pectates imports plummeted to $789K in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 184% against the previous year.
