Price for Pens; Nibs and Nib Points in Singapore (CIF) - 2022
The average import price for pens; nibs and nib pointses stood at $49.0 per thousand units in September 2022, declining by -50.5% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 an increase of 2,997% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $0.4 per unit. From July 2022 to September 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($560 per thousand units), while the price for Japan stood at $23.0 per thousand units.
From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+18.4%).

In 2022, the average export price for pens; nibs and nib pointses amounted to $7 per thousand units, picking up by 17% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $14 per thousand units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($8.9 per thousand units), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($4.9 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Pens; Nibs and Nib Points in Singapore
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of pens; nibs and nib pointses, when their volume decreased by -27% to 142M units. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 215% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports saw a sharp contraction. The smallest decline of -29.9% was in 2020. The exports peaked at 877M units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, pens; nibs and nib points exports fell rapidly to $1.6M in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a sharp curtailment. The smallest decline of -11.6% was in 2020. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $4.6M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
