In 2022, the average import price for petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons; liquefied, natural gasses amounted to $993 per ton, with an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible decline. The import price peaked at $1,582 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Zambia ($4,067 per ton), while the price for Tanzania ($709 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Zambia (+18.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($5,593 per ton), while the average price for exports to Rwanda stood at $1,281 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Democratic Republic of the Congo (+17.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
