In 2022, the average import price for phenols or phenol-alcohols; halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives thereoves amounted to $3,123 per ton, picking up by 2.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $18,899 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($12,727 per ton), while the price for China ($2,526 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (-4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, imports saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 525%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of phenols or phenol-alcohols; halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives thereoves surged to $31K in 2022. In general, imports showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 595%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
