The average import price for phosphinates (hypophosphites), phosphonates (phosphites), phosphates and polyphosphateses stood at $1,287 per ton in September 2023, with a decrease of -29.1% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a slight expansion from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, import price for phosphinates (hypophosphites), phosphonates (phosphites), phosphates and polyphosphateses increased by +1.1% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 50% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,264 per ton. From June 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($2,560 per ton), while the price for Spain ($1,055 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,982 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($3,860 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($1,387 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+76.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 205%.
