The average import price for photographic film; for x-rays, in rolls, sensitised and unexposeds stood at $26 per square meter in 2022, shrinking by -6.1% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $34 per square meter in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Spain ($34 per square meter) and Belgium ($31 per square meter), while the price for Japan ($26 per square meter) and the United States ($26 per square meter) were amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $60.3 per square meter in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to January 2024, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Russia ($53.3 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan ($36.5 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iran (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +93.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 68% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
