Price for Photographic Paper, Paperboard and Textiles; Sensitised, Unexposed in China (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average export price for photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds amounted to $1.6 per square meter, picking up by 6.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a noticeable slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 40% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2.3 per square meter. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ethiopia ($2 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Brazil ($0.9 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In December 2023, the average import price for photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds amounted to $2.0 per square meter, falling by -8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a modest expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 384% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $8.8 per square meter. From March 2023 to December 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($23.4 per square meter), while the price for the Netherlands stood at $1.7 per square meter.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+5.1%).

Exports of Photographic Paper, Paperboard and Textiles; Sensitised, Unexposed in China

In 2022, the amount of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds exported from China skyrocketed to 43M square meters, rising by 32% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +58.8% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, exports of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds soared to $69M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +68.6% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

For the third year in a row, China recorded decline in supplies from abroad of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds, which decreased by -38.4% to 8.3M square meters in 2022. In general, imports faced a dramatic contraction. The smallest decline of -13.4% was in 2021. Over the period under review, imports of reached the maximum at 24M square meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, imports of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles; sensitised, unexposeds contracted sharply to $12M in 2022. Overall, imports faced a dramatic decline. The smallest decline of -10.4% was in 2021. Over the period under review, imports of reached the maximum at $32M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
