In March 2024, the average export price for pig fat; lard, other than that of heading 0209 and 1503s amounted to $2,126 per ton, declining by -13.6% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 an increase of 32% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $3,127 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to March 2024, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the UK.

From March 2023 to March 2024, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Czech Republic amounted to +2.4% per month.

The average import price for pig fat; lard, other than that of heading 0209 and 1503s stood at $2,607 per ton in December 2023, rising by 25% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a mild increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 259% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $8,796 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($8,512 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($1,577 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
