In December 2023, the average import price for pig fat; not lard, other than that of heading 0209 or 1503s amounted to $1,216 per ton, with a decrease of -1.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a mild decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2023 when the average import price increased by 17% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,473 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 153% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,013 per ton. From May 2023 to December 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($1,751 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($699 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
