In April 2024, the average import price for pig fat; not lard, other than that of heading 0209 or 1503s amounted to $1,429 per ton, reducing by -11.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2024 when the average import price increased by 12% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,018 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to April 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In April 2024, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,878 per ton), while the price for Sweden ($1,027 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From April 2023 to April 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (-2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($3,123 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy stood at $819 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ireland (-4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
