The average export price for pitch coke; obtained from coal tar or from other mineral tarses stood at $889 per ton in September 2023, with an increase of 3.2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 37% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $944 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($955 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($768 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,135 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
