In October 2023, the average import price for plants, live; bulbs, tubers, tuberous roots, corms, crowns and rhizomes, dormants amounted to $56.7 per thousand units, declining by -62.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price faced a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 203% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3.1 per unit. From May 2023 to October 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($309 per thousand units), while the price for the Netherlands amounted to $55.0 per thousand units.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+5.2%).

The average export price for plants, live; bulbs, tubers, tuberous roots, corms, crowns and rhizomes, dormants stood at $0.7 per unit in 2022, growing by 3.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 463% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1.7 per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($0.8 per unit), while the average price for exports to Germany ($0.5 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+13.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of plants, live; bulbs, tubers, tuberous roots, corms, crowns and rhizomes, dormants surged to $1.6M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +58.9% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Over the period under review, exports recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 170% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, exports of plants, live; bulbs, tubers, tuberous roots, corms, crowns and rhizomes, dormants surged to $237K in 2022. Overall, exports saw a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 57%. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
