The average import price for poly(lactic acid); in primary formses stood at $1,388 per ton in February 2023, rising by 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 35% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,651 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to February 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.

In 2022, the average export price for poly(lactic acid); in primary formses amounted to $2,876 per ton, declining by -29.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, posted measured growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 124% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $13,647 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, poly(lactic acid); in primary forms exports contracted to $370 in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 39%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $431, and then shrank in the following year.
