Price for Polyolefins Other than Polypropylene in Brazil (CIF) - 2024
The average polyolefins other than polypropylene import price stood at $1,550 per ton in January 2024, surging by 9.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a mild slump. The import price peaked at $1,838 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to January 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($4,220 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($1,153 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Polyolefins Other than Polypropylene in Brazil (FOB) - 2024
In January 2024, the average polyolefins other than polypropylene export price amounted to $1,258 per ton, falling by -3.5% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 25% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,550 per ton. From May 2023 to January 2024, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($2,251 per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($1,064 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Peru (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Polyolefins Other than Polypropylene in Brazil
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of polyolefins other than polypropylene decreased by -14.3% to 156K tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 16%.
In value terms, polyolefins other than polypropylene imports reduced slightly to $325M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +9.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 34%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $333M, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, polyolefins other than polypropylene exports declined to $225M in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 39% against the previous year.
