Price for Polyolefins Other than Polypropylene in Egypt (CIF) - 2023
In November 2023, the average polyolefins other than polypropylene import price amounted to $1,801 per ton, remaining constant against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 4.1% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,309 per ton. From March 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from China ($2,499 per ton) and Saudi Arabia ($1,883 per ton), while the price for Singapore ($1,688 per ton) and the United Arab Emirates ($1,688 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Price for Polyolefins Other than Polypropylene in Egypt (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average polyolefins other than polypropylene export price amounted to $2,989 per ton, increasing by 11% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 94% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $3,121 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lebanon ($4,040 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($2,241 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Polyolefins Other than Polypropylene in Egypt
In 2022, the amount of polyolefins other than polypropylene imported into Egypt skyrocketed to 109K tons, jumping by 18% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced descent.
In value terms, polyolefins other than polypropylene imports surged to $235M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.4% over the last three-year period.
