Price for Preserved Swine Meat Cut in Italy (CIF) - 2023
The average preserved swine meat cut import price stood at $7,513 per ton in May 2023, jumping by 24% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated mild growth from May 2022 to May 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on May 2023 figures, preserved swine meat cut import price increased by +34.2% against February 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 61% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $8,756 per ton. From December 2022 to May 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($35,087 per ton), while the price for Romania ($5,489 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+15.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of prepared or preserved shoulders and cuts of swine meat decreased by -8.4% to 919 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth.
