In April 2024, the average export price for printed matter; dictionaries, encyclopaedias and serial instalments thereoves amounted to $11.3 per unit, falling by -3.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 39% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $15.8 per unit. From August 2023 to April 2024, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In April 2024, the country with the highest price was the United States ($33.3 per unit), while the average price for exports to Australia ($3.8 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From April 2023 to April 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+26.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for printed matter; dictionaries, encyclopaedias and serial instalments thereoves stood at $4.2 per unit in 2022, reducing by -23% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a mild descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 92%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $9.9 per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($13 per unit), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($2.6 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 73% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 11M units, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, exports of printed matter; dictionaries, encyclopaedias and serial instalments thereoves declined sharply to $59M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 38% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $72M, and then contracted notably in the following year.

Over the period under review, imports showed a precipitous shrinkage. The smallest decline of -11.2% was in 2021.
