Price for Printed Matter in Single Sheets in Poland (FOB) - 2023

In June 2023, the average export price for printed matter in single sheets, whether or not folded amounted to $3,837 per ton, declining by -34.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 57% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $7,428 per ton. From December 2022 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($11,298 per ton), while the average price for exports to Latvia ($581 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+6.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for printed matter in single sheets, whether or not folded stood at $2,559 per ton in 2022, jumping by 45% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 94% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $9,902 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($16,925 per ton), while the price for Italy ($826 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+8.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Printed Matter in Single Sheets in Poland

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in overseas shipments of printed matter in single sheets, whether or not folded, when their volume decreased by -1.4% to 17K tons. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 20%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 17K tons, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, printed matter in single sheets exports rose to $82M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +48.6% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 31% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In general, imports, however, enjoyed a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 66%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 18K tons, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
