In 2022, the average import price for pulps of other fibrous cellulosic materials amounted to $2,150 per ton, surging by 45% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,157 per ton in 2012; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($2,547 per ton), while the price for the United States ($2,027 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for pulps of other fibrous cellulosic materials stood at $661 per ton in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for pulps of other fibrous cellulosic materials increased by +26.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 25%. The export price peaked at $739 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($1,023 per ton), while the average price for exports to Guatemala ($527 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of pulps of other fibrous cellulosic materials soared to $17M in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed a significant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
