In March 2024, the average export price for pulps of other fibrous cellulosic materials amounted to $1,940 per ton, shrinking by -2.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2024 an increase of 33% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $3,014 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to March 2024, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In March 2024, the countries with the highest prices were Indonesia ($2,076 per ton) and the Philippines ($2,009 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($1,759 per ton) and Vietnam ($1,888 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for pulps of other fibrous cellulosic materials stood at $1,484 per ton in 2022, increasing by 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 150% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $3,203 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($3,844 per ton), while the price for Germany ($752 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+22.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Pulps of Other Fibrous Cellulosic Material in Hungary
In 2022, shipments abroad of pulps of other fibrous cellulosic materials decreased by -4.8% to 24K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 347%.
In value terms, exports of pulps of other fibrous cellulosic materials skyrocketed to $46M in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 114%. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
