In January 2024, the average export price for pulps of other fibrous cellulosic materials amounted to $3,023 per ton, picking up by 88% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a strong increase from March 2023 to January 2024: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +6.6% over the last ten-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on January 2024 figures, export price for pulps of other fibrous cellulosic materials increased by +101.0% against April 2023 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($6,292 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($794 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+14.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the import price enjoyed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 55%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,097 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($2,367 per ton), while the price for Singapore ($712 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
