The average import price for quartz; other than natural sandses stood at $333 per ton in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $609 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($2,000 per ton), while the price for India ($276 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+15.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
